To broaden its appeal in a Windows-dominated world, Apple unveiled software yesterday that allows owners of its new Intel-based Macs to run its own operating system and Microsoft's.
Apple's shares surged almost 10 percent as Wall Street bet the move would help Apple sell more computers by attracting more business and home users.
