The all new GeForce 8800 series GPU

Looking forward to buying this card. Its the next generation of graphics card from Nvidia featuring 768MB of GDDR3 video memory and 128-bit HDR with 16x anti aliasing and also features the 'NVIDIA's Quantum Physics Engine' . The new thing about it is that it consists of unified shader model first introduced by ATI tech. now part of AMD. And of course has full support for DX10.

emm.. i looked into some swedish online market.. its really expensive.. the GTX model is about 5500+ kroner while the gts model is slightly less. Maybe i should wait for a few more days until windows vista + intels quad core processors have arrived.

Happy Father's day

A Dad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens,
suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one
of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong
In all that you do,
a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day

change required..

I dont like the design of my blog anymore. I am going to switch to a new design template, one that is simple and utilizes space more efficiently. I still need to find some way to make a photo library like my friends using msn space have... have too many pictures to share. And need to add some more cool stuff.. some flash stuff.. video stuff.

I wont have any time to do it now.. will do it in the summer.

oh mother mine...

A MOTHER'S LOVE

A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

~Helen Steiner Rice~

M is for the million things she gave me,
O means only that she's growing old,
T is for the tears she shed to save me,
H is for her heart of purest gold;
E is for her eyes with love-light shining,
R means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell MOTHER

void * realloc ( void * memblock, size_t size );

Reallocate memory block.

The size of the block pointed to by memblock parameter is changed to the size in bytes specified, expanding or reducing the amount of memory accessible in that block.
The block could be moved to a new location in some cases, in this case the pointer returned by the function will point to the location. The content of the block will remain unchanged even if the block is moved and will be accessible from the new pointer.
In case that memblock is NULL the function behaves exactly as malloc assigning a new block of size bytes and returning a pointer to the beginning of it.
In case that size is 0 the memory previously allocated in memblock is deallocated and a NULL pointer is returned. Dynamic memory allocated with malloc, calloc and realloc should be freed using free once it is no longer needed.

another chora

Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless in facing them.

Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain but for the heart to conquer it.

Let me not look for allies in life's battlefield but to my own strength.

Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved but hope for the patience to win my freedom.

Grant me that I may not be a coward, feeling your mercy in my success alone; but let me find the grasp of your hand in my failure.

Sauna in Evergarden and its benefits

Steam saunas may help you lose weight. Spending some time in a steam bath for can burn as many as 300 calories. Combine this with a healthy diet and exercise and you’ll be thinner in no time. The steam sauna can also tighten your skin, in that dirty battle against cellulite.

A steam bath will relax your tense and aching muscles. If you have had a long day (or month) at work, toxins can build up in your muscle tissue, causing you pain and discomfort. A steam sauna can force your muscles to relax, almost instantly releasing these harmful toxins. It is also great after a workout. The extra blood flow will speed up the repair of your muscle tissue, thus allowing you to exercise again sooner. Don’t take my word for it. The Finnish Olympic team takes a portable steam sauna to all competitions.

The steam sauna also cleanses your skin. The sweat opens your pores, thus flushing out unhealthy toxins and grime.

Steam bathing provides a cardiovascular workout without stress or strain on your joints. You heart rate will speed up 50-75% in a 20-minute steam bath. This goes a long way to speeding up your metabolism, thus helping you burn fat. It is about the same as going for a long walk. Some people are under the conception that steam baths raise your blood pressure. While this is true, it also expands your blood vessels to compensate.

In many ways the steam bath acts as a giant fever machine. While this may sound like pretty much the worst thing ever. When you think about it, it actually makes sense. You are sick, it is the virus that makes you feel bad. The fever is your body’s way to kill that virus. So, even if you are not feeling sick, getting into a sauna is like a pre-emptive strike against any viruses in your body.

You're Beautiful

...You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,

But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you....

Apple decides it will do windows!?!?

To broaden its appeal in a Windows-dominated world, Apple unveiled software yesterday that allows owners of its new Intel-based Macs to run its own operating system and Microsoft's.

Apple's shares surged almost 10 percent as Wall Street bet the move would help Apple sell more computers by attracting more business and home users.

Amorphophallus titanum - largest flower

Amorphophallus titanum is the largest flowering plant in the world. The common name is "Titan" because it grows so big. Another name is "Mr. Stinky" because when it blooms it emits an odor which exactly mimics those of rotting flesh. This putrid order attracts carrion beetles that pollinate the flower.

Titan Tips
· First discovered in 1878 in Sumatra, Indonesia.
· Considered to be the most spectacular bloom in the plant world.
· The Titan is the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world and can be taller than a man.
· A mature bloom could ultimately measure 7-12 feet in height.
· A mature leaf could measure 20 feet in height and 15 feet in diameter.
· Mature plant releases powerful waves of odor to attract pollinators.
· Amorphophallus means "shapeless phallus."
· The bloom will last only 2-3 days. After blooming the flower collapses.
· The "stinking" odor lasts only the first 8 hours the bloom is open.

Utah Teapot!!

This object is historically one of the first complex 3D models to be rendered in computer graphics. It consisted of about 110 vertices, and was generated by Martin Newell in 1974 using hand-drawn Bezier curves, based on a real teapot that he and his wife had bought. This model served as a basis for comparing various 3D rendering methodologies for lighting, textures, bump-mapping, etc. By the standards of 2002, the model is trivial to render and thus is often not suited to demonstrate the complexity of modern research. Despite this, the tea pot still appears, now and then, in recent papers. The teapot was made by Melitta in 1974 and originally belonged to Martin Newell and his wife, Sandra - who purchased it from ZCMI, (a department store in Salt Lake City).

The teapot was eventually donated to the Boston Computer Museum but now resides in the Ephemera collection of the Computer History Museum.

It's catalogued as "Teapot used for Computer Graphics rendering" and bears the catalogue number X00398.1984

GDrive - google drive

Googles GDrive is no longer a rumor. GDrive is on its way and soon me like many others will be uploading/backing up my whole hard drive in case of a HD crash.

But there are some points to ponder:
  1. How does google wish to implement it.. do we need to install some google application.. will there be a web based interface.
  2. Is GDrive is simply going to be a network share allowing most applications to take advantage of this service without modification?
  3. Can I really really upload my whole harddrive (all 160 GB)?!?! How long is it going to take to do that?!?!
  4. Do i have to pay anything in order to get the service??
  5. Can i trust google with my files?
  6. Do i need to create a new account for it or my existing gmail account will work?
  7. Can i allow other people to access my GDrive.
  8. I wonder how Google will monetize a service like this??

My Bengal of gold, I love you

My Bengal of gold, I love you
Forever your skies, your air set my heart in tune
as if it were a flute,
In Spring, Oh mother mine, the fragrance from
your mango-groves makes me wild with joy-
Ah, what a thrill!
In Autumn, Oh mother mine,
in the full-blossomed paddy fields,
I have seen spread all over - sweet smiles!
Ah, what a beauty, what shades, what an affection
and what a tenderness!
What a quilt have you spread at the feet of
banyan trees and along the banks of rivers!
Oh mother mine, words from your lips are like
Nectar to my ears!
Ah, what a thrill!
If sadness, Oh mother mine, casts a gloom on your face,
my eyes are filled with tears!

hilsha party

Badminton...

Yesterday 6 of us played badminton in the sports arena here in norrköping. We played for 2 long hours even though we booked the court for one hour. Mahboob and Wali bhai were the sponsers. It took 80 kroner after showing my student card.. the normal price is 160 kroner. Among the others were.. polash, aziz, wang and me. Faisal was also with us.. but he didn't play.. just enjoyed our match. There were others who couldn't make it.

There were other empty courts.. very few people.. so none of us were sitting. We continued playing (for one more hour) even when our allocated time of one hour was finished.. since most courts were empty. Wali was our couch.. a good one. He is a regular player and has won many prizes and trophys. It was good badminton... playing for two long hours without any break made me very tired.

I must say.. I think i play badminton very good. Lot lot better then basketball and tt. If i play on a regular basis.. then i can be a champion :) ;) ;)

After the match.. some of us went to polash room. There me, aziz, polash and rahul bhai took sauna for one hour. It was really fun.. and very hot.. but it took the pain (from badminton) from our body.

Then we had the most tasty fish in the whole world, hilsha. Walli bhai got this fish from stockholm.. its imported from bangladesh (expensive 55 kroner per kg). Polash is a good cook.. made the hilsha fish really good. We had it with rice. I along with others had lots of fun.. took pictures made jokes and talked for long hours. By the time me aziz and faisal bhai got home it was 2:00 in the night.... i checked my mails wrote a few lines in my blog and went to sleep ;)

testing.. time of post..

a day in my life..

What a day I have had today.. full of surprises.. and fun and hate and love and anger and sadness. All this feelings spiced together gave me a strange feeling ;-)

We all live in the same roof.. yet there is so much difference among us in so many ways. People always think in different ways and its always hard to find out who is right or wronge or whats the correct way to go. Sometime i feel like cultural difference is a plague.. why cant we all eat the same food and think the same way.. and follow the same path. But this is how we are made.. and one must learn to live with it. And maybe we should have this cultural difference among us.. otherwise the evolution of human society would stop... and man whose life line is so much tangled/interwined with society and culture would become extinct.

Today I met a life long friend (best-friend) on the net after a long time. It was so good talking to him. Made me feel like I was back in Bangladesh. I want to go back to Bangladesh and smell the warm air.. drink lots of tea (with lots of sugar and lemon) and have kabab with nun... and ofcourse have lots of late night 'addas' with friends.

In conclusion.. it was a great day for me.. experiance is what makes a man perfect.. which I intend to be one. Love for all - hate for none is the way for me.

...and also I gained a monkey friend!!

Table tennis..

it is almost 3:00 in the night and i have had too many cups of tea and coffee.. dont feel like sleeping.

Today... or more preciously yesterday i played tt from 20:00 to 22:00 in the night. I like this game very much and it was fun playing. I played tt only a couple of times (3 or 4) before coming to sweden. We have tt in the basement in bollen and some other student apartments here in norrköping. I have played many times after coming here.. and i am improving. But i am still the worst among all the players... still can't return all the serves and dont know how to smash. So i am a novice. Its very difficult to control such a small and light tt ball. It is nearly impossible for me to return zahir bhai's serves. My return shots always goes either on the left or right of the table - outside :(

There was little bear, jason, aziz bhai, zahir bhai.. and me. Among them i thought zahir bhai, jason and aziz bhai plays really well. Little bear has her own style of playing.. monkey style ;-).. but is also realy good in it. While i play more like a sleeping guy just standing and moving my bat around... my long arms seems to help me with my style. We played doubles and since we were five.. one of us had to sit down in each round. I had my slipers on so it was a bit uncomfertable moving with them... though wearing keds would not have made much of an improvement.

I will be playing more of it.. but still have some back problems - sucks.

my life + internet connection

My 2 week free internet connection for the new room has ended this morning. And i am now upstairs in Zaheers room checking my mails and writing something here. My life is now very much dependent on the internet. Everyday after getting up from bed.. i start my machine and check my mails.. look at the news.. start my msn messenger.. look at my blog.. go through new movies in movies.yahoo.com and so on. My life as a student is also oriented around the net. I get the lectures and research papers and the assignement and the code for my projects.. and tutorial... all from the internet. I buy electronic stuffs from the internet.. one of my favourite site is tomshardware.com.. i look into it every day. Its a great site for new products.. and the reviews are really good.

Its hard to notice that you are so much dependent on the net until you are really kept away from it.. like i am now. Dont know what to do.. its so boring doing nothing in the room. I need to start a new project.. but without the internet it seems impossible.

I must say..the internet connection that we have in our student apartments are no ordinary lines. We are connected using optical fibres with 100mbps download speed and 10mbps upload speed. And all this bandwidth we get for 180kroner only for each month. Now who would like to be kept away from such a high speed connection at such a low price... certainly not me.

But i will get my connection back soon.. and soon i will enjoy going through some new product reviews in tomshardware.com and ofcourse start my project. Until then i have to figure out what to do.. maybe clean my room... re-install matlab 7 agian.. maybe have some chinease tea without any sugar (tastes like hot water).
